Just a few days-and the gifts we've
witholden, Just a few hours- and the call we refuse Will rush on forever, and return to us never, And eternity's crown we no longer may choose. |
God never asks a person to perform a task without also
providing him
with the necessary "equipment."
For example, as soldiers of Christ we've been supplied
with all that's required
to wage a successful warfare.
In Ephesians 6:11-17 the Apostle Paul talks about the "whole armor of God,"
which includes the girdle of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield
of
faith and the helmet of salvation.
The same is true in every area of our service for Christ.
The Lord always gives us what we need to do the job.
God gave Moses a rod, David a sling, Samson the jawbone of
an ass,
Shagmar an ox goad, ester the beauty of person, Deborah the
talent for poetry,
Dorcas a needle and Apollos an eloquent
tongue-and to each the ability to use his gift.
In so doing, everyone of
them did most effective works for the Lord.
Our heavenly father has endowed all of us with what we need
to discharge our own
individual responsibilities, and that is wonderful!
God's gifts must not be squandered! They must be
fully utilized, because someday
he will call for an accounting of our
stewardship.
What have God given you? Are you using your talent
for His Glory and the blessing
of others? Don't waste that gift! Use
it!
The greatest of all mistakes is to do nothing because you think you can do only a little.
Neglect not the gift that is in thee. 1 Timothy 4:14
